History of ArletaOnce a part of the neighborhood of
Pacoima, Arleta is a small community in Los Angeles California that
became an independent area in the late 1960s. The Golden State
Freeway also know as I-5 seceded in the late 1960s and this formed
the Arleta area which was then it's own separate, and new community
that had been broken or branched off from Pacoima.
The area of Arleta bordered by Paxton
Avenue to the northwest and Woodman Avenue to the southwest, Laurel
Canyon Boulevard to the northeast and Tonopah Avenue to the
southeast. Today, Arleta is home to the Juicy Couture headquarters
as well as a post office which opened back in 1954, Branford Park,
and the Devonshire Arleta Park.
Description of ArletaArleta is an area in the San Fernando
Valley of Los Angeles, California. The neighborhood is bordered by
various other Los Angeles neighborhoods including Mission Hills,
North Hills, Sun Valley, Paccoima and Panorama City. To the norht of
Arleta is the well known Los Angeles city San Fernando. A relatively
small area that spans about 4 square miles, Arleta shares a zip code
with the neighboring district of Pacoima.
Arleta is a relatively easy to access
neighborhood of Los Angeles. The area is easily accessible via the
Golden State Freeway also known as Interstate 5 and the Hollywood
Freeway which is also known locally as SR170. Various major roads
also run through the Arleta area providing easy access into and out
of the neighborhoods.
Residents of ArletaArleta residents are primarily Hispanic
or Latino but there is also a relatively large number of white
residents in the area. Of the more than 30,000 people who call
Arleta home, about 70% of them are Hispanic or Latino while the
majority of the remaining residents are of caucasian or non-Hispanic
decent. The median household income in Arleta is $48,752 with an
average household income of $58,469.
Some famous residents have come out of
Arleta including the Osmond Family who lived in the neighborhood
during the early 1970s and Jobnny Burnette a famous Rockabilly singer
from the 1960s who also called Arleta home at one time.

For children, the Branford Park is
located in Arleta and features an auditorium as well as a lighted
baseball field and lighted basketball courts. An indoor gym with
weights is also at the park as well as a kitchen, music room and
picnic tables scattered throughout the park. A children's play area
offers something fun to do for young or school age children.
The Pacoima Branch library is located a short drive outside Arleta on Van Nuys Blvd. Here residents of Arleta can pick up a book to read or find reference materials for a school or community project.
