History of Mar Vista

The Mar Vista Recreation Center is open to the public at 11430 Woodbine Ave. It includes, barbecue pits, a baseball diamond, basketball courts, children’s play area, gym, picnic tables, roller hockey rink and lighted tennis and volleyball courts.
 
The Mar Vista farmers Market is only four years old but has become a Sunday staple between 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Grandview Ave. and Venice Blvd.
 
One of the most fun restaurants in the city is Zabumba which is busy late into the night with Brazilian music, a full bar and food. It’s a great place to watch World Cup soccer, but it’s a good idea to be rooting for Brazil. Zabumba is at 10717 Venice Blvd. Call 310-841-6525 for reservations.
 
Another eatery worth visiting is House of Thai Taste just up the street at 12824 Venice Blvd., 310-915-0123. The restaurant offers traditional Thai fare including extensive vegetarian offers. Be sure to look for the portrait of Elvis in Thailand.
